09:36 pm - Writer's Block: Pick an era, any era
I actually have two time periods I would happily trade this one in for. The first would be the early 1920's. I love how much of an absolute upgrade the women's movement made during this era. We got the vote, took inches off our skirts, cut our hair, and proved we could drink as much as a man. I also love the literature, the art, and the fashion from the 1920's. I'd give almost anything to live like a character from a Fitzgerald novel.
I also would love to visit a place like San Francisco or New York in the 1960's. Anti-war protests, freedom rides, LSD without the speed, good smoke, and great sex. I guess I'm also interested in this period because, it, too, was a time of change and empowerment for women and for minorities in America. I love learning about the yippie movement and Abbie Hoffman and could picture myself right up there beside him, fighting for the cause.

02:07 pm - Writer's Block: Personality Trait = Trouble
I'm pretty sure it's my rebellious nature. I don't argue or fight back too much, but if I feel that I'm being forced to do something or that I'm not getting the respect I have earned and deserve, I will leave the situation behind pronto. This sometimes flaw has cause the quitting of every job I ever had.

12:00 am - Writer's Block: Life Changing Experiences
1. Being a victim of incest....twice 2. Having my mother die in a car accident...on my sixteenth birthday 3. Graduating from highshool...even though I had been addicted to crystal meth and living in my car most of my senior year.
I chose these experiences because not only were they life changing, they were the worst things that ever happened to me. It's been a year since I've been clean and I'm just so proud of myself that I'm not another statistic. I had plenty of chances to just give up, to drop out, to die even, but I kept on. I wouldn't change one thing about my past, I'm the most mature twenty year-old I know. I've seen, been victim to, and took part in some very ugly happenings along life's journey, but I'm so happy to be alive that it all seems worth it. If these things wouldn't have happened to me, I'd probably be a very oblivious, very close-minded young woman. I do deal with some post-traumatic stress and anxiety, but I believe once I overcome that (which I will, in time) I can use it to help people going through similar situations. 12:46 am - Why, hello there!
I haven't had a livejournal in at least a year, just thought I'd come see if it was still as good as it used to be. I have to say, it's gone down the crapper. These ugly ads, for one, and it's so hard to navigate! I typed my interests out three times and they kept getting deleted. Pretty ridiculous. But hey, I'll give it another shot and see if I get used to it. Current Mood: creative Current Music: Instant Karma, John Lennon
